If you or your love ones are experiencing problems with drugs addiction, alcoholism or other forms of addictions, it is best to consider seeking help from a drug treatment facility. There are many drug treatment centers all over the country. Some facilities are operated by the state government and are for court ordered cases or individuals who cannot afford a private inpatient program. Then there are private facilities that require patients to have insurance coverage or enough money to enroll in the program. One thing is certain, these private facilities are certainly not cheap but some insurance plans will cover the cost.

Alcohol abuse, it is a common ailment in the population today. More so then we can imagine. There are times when even the person who is suffering from alcoholism is unaware of their problem. What people don’t really consider is that alcohol can be abused even if not consumed in excess. Many closet alcoholics may not even want to know how to stop drinking alcohol because they don’t know they have a problem. Alcohol abuse acts like a disease. It is an addiction. It is the allowing of a substance to have control over the life of the individual. A person will continue drinking despite any negative side affects. Perhaps the person likes the way it tastes, or makes them feel. Lets say they have a social complex or anxiety disorder. In laymen’s terms: they are shy. Alcohol acts as a relaxant, for both muscles and mentality. A person can find themselves chatting up a large group of people with only a few drinks. The mind set becomes that all they need is a drink and they will become themselves. This is a sign of abuse.
When someone begins to psychologically condition themselves into thinking that they have to have alcohol to be themselves, or a likable person in the eyes of their peers, they have taken this drug beyond that of a recreational drink. Yes, alcohol is a drug. It inhibits a person’s ability to think clearly, it affects the synapses in the brain that controls basic communication to the body: your nerves, your emotions, your ability to hold your tongue. Hence you find yourself numb, extremely happy or depressed (results vary) and spilling yours and everyone else’s dirty little secrets. When it leaves your system whatever high you were on become a low and your body physically reacts to it. Along with the high content of sugar in these drinks, especially when they are mixed.
This sends your body into overdrive trying to balance the glucose and sugar levels in your system. Hence in the morning you wake fuzzy, with a head ache and even nauseous. A hangover is simply a slang term for a hypoglycemic attack. Yet this person continues to drink. They rationalize that they are not drinking in large amounts. They don’t drink to the point of vomiting and they don’t even have alcohol in their house. They drink with friends, or on the weekend, maybe just special occasions. They are not even aware that they are abusing alcohol. It is a fine line that we walk between abuse and safe consumption of alcohol. Unfortunately “safe” is just a word that is used to eliminate the guilt and give us the rationalization that we can go ahead and continue our destructive habits.
Vicodin is a narcotic which is prescribed for patients with acute or chronic pain. Perhaps you’ve been prescribed Vicodin by your dentist following a root canal or tooth extraction. Usually, the physician prescribes a limited number of pills to relieve the pain until healing of the tissues occurs. Sometimes, your physician may prescribe Vicodin for a chronic condition, such as arthritis. However, prescriptions for Vicodin to relieve chronic pain are usually strictly monitored, in order to prevent addiction.
While very effective for use in either short-term, acute pain, such as that you experience with a dental extraction, and chronic pain, the danger of becoming addicted is more often associated with long term use. When you take Vicodin for just a few days, as prescribed, the pain abates and you no longer need or desire the medication.
