If you’re looking to hire a children’s magician for your church program, it’s helpful sometimes to think through a “checklist” of sorts to make sure you are hiring the right person. It can be noted that children’s magicians for church programs are definitely a great option – magicians have a way of holding the attention of kids with illusion and theater, while interweaving a fantastic story or message into the show.

But how do you know if you’re hiring the right children’s magician? First, consider your age span in your audience, and ask your potential magician if they’ve done shows in the past for this age range. Holding children’s attention with a show requires age-appropriate material, and the wider the age range the more difficult this task becomes. Experience gives a magician the skills they need to hold the attention of more than one age in an audience.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, check for references. A successful magician is one who has done similar programs to yours and has completed the job successfully. Ask for names and contact the churches the magician has performed at in the past, and don’t be afraid to contact them and find out for yourself how well the programs in the past went with this magician.
